PIONEERS OF SPIRITUALISM - Gordon Higginson 1918-1993

Gordon Higginson was born on 17th Nov' 1918 and started sitting in his mothers development circle at the age of three where he was able to see and experience things from this early age. At the age of 5 he was a member of the Longton Lyceum and took his first service at Longton Spiritualist Church when he was 12 years old and came to be known as the 'Boy Medium'.

Gordon was guided and trained by his mother Fanny, who before Gordon was born, was told by another medium that she would stand where she was on the platform, would have a son that would follow her, and their name would be linked with this church at Longton for over 100 years.
The medium who had given the message and later trained Fanny was Annie Brittian, one of the most famous trance mediums in the country at the time. Fanny served Longton for 70 years, and together with her son have spanned over a century of time serving the church.

Gordon's physical mediumship produced both materialisations and direct voice phenomena. His first experience of trance was at a service where he was asked to address the congregation of Hanley Church and he declined stating that he was a demonstrator not a speaker. He was 18 years old at the time, he shut his eyes feeling drowsy and knew no more until he was being offered a glass of water by the chair person who told him he had gave an excellent trance address.

Gordon worked with many of the greatest names of the time and frequently filled venues to the maximum capacity throughout the U.K. including several solo demonstrations at the Royal Albert Hall. He was a spiritualist minister and president of the S.N.U. from 1970 till his death on the 18th Jan' 1993. He was also the principle of the Arthut Findlay College for 14 years, he was widely respected for a variety of mediumistic and teaching work which encompassed the insight of many of the worlds great wisdom traditions and great seers.

Gordons greatest love was Stansted Hall, which he seen as a tool for getting spiritualism out around the world. His involvment with Stansted began before the hall belonged to the union and started with its owner, then Arthur Findlay, who was himself a spiritualist, who had written many books on the subject, and whos' dream and vision was a college for mediums.
Gordon had taken on Arthurs vision and made the college a reality and left a legacy behind with his teachings.

His lifes work was for the spirit world and he worked tirelessly with the spiritualist movement, bringing proof that there is no death.
Gordon campaigned and served the spirit world for decades, in fact all his life, was unique, brillant, had great humility and compassion to reach the hearts of those he met, his work is a bright light for all who may follow him.
