A tale that made me think differently
A pupil, in one of the run down schools in a South African shanty town, during a goegraphy lesson
took note of his teacher saying that she had never seen the sea and couldn't describe what it was really like
though she wished that she could.
The boy during the summer holidays decided that he would get her a present to thank his teacher for her time, effort and patience.
The sea was a long way away so he walked and hitchhiked for nearly a week to reach the shore where he found a small
Conch shell, which he filled with sand and brought home after another 5 days of walking and begging lifts.
On his first day back at school he presented his teacher with his present, and upon seeing the sand filled shell
said it would remain on her desk for the rest of the year, and that it was a wonderful present to recieve.
The boy replied 'It's not the shell or sand, It's the journey that's the present'

Further thoughts
To have Understanding, You must have Experienced,
To understand Love, You must have felt Love.
To understand Hope, You must have felt Despair.
To understand Light, You must have been in Darkness,
By these experiences we can all grow towards greater understanding.
These experiences can enable us to become Spiritual human beings, so then we can truly say I Understand.
